Hafan Outside Catering is owned and run by renowned Chef Melfyn Thomas who has distinguished past having been chef at Portmeirion, chef to the Wales National football Team, had his own slot on a daily magazine programme on S4C and has published a book of his recipes.
In the first few years, the business consisted of only a small van and a handful of equipment serving local businesses. The company has since grown to having mobile trailers kitchens, catering lorry with marquee attached, demonstration kitchens, display coolers and chillers, hundrers of banqueting chairs and foldable tables, thousands of items of crockery, glassware and cookware, almost as much as we have in happy and satisfied customers!
The main objective has always been to offer a proffesional service that customers can rely on. At Arlwyo Hafan Catering we always aims to please and have a long list of testimonials from customers with a host of different needs from small weddings to TV crews requiring catering trucks, staff and equipment.

Currently Hafan supplies all the catering needs of Rownd a Rownd
, the popular Welsh language soap opera on S4C, produced by Rondo Media. Chef Melfyn Thomas can combine two of his greatest passions on this particular job. Not only does he supply all of the equipment and trailers needed to cater for the cast and crew he also gets to prepare the food, drawing on over 40 years experience working in kitchens in many countries around the world.
No job too big, no job too small. Being mobile and flexible is one of our main strengths. When Opera star Rhys Meirion walked 200 miles in 8 days in aid of the Wales Air Ambulnace charity, Hafan catering were with ‘Cerddwn Ymlaen’ every step of the way, not only catering for Rhys along the way, but also the host of stars and celebrities (Charlotte Church and Hayley Westenra to name a few) who were accompanying him along the way. It was a privilige for Hafan to be involved and chosen for such a prestigious fundraiser which raised £16,000 for the charity.
